Shih Tzu Grooming

Shih Tzu Grooming

I realize there will be many wonderful Shih Tzu owners who will disagree with me on this but...

In my humble opinion, if you are going to have a Shih Tzu in a warm climate then you should keep their coat short.

Of course I realize that show dogs must have a long flowing coat, but I also believe these owners should keep their Shih Tzus in air conditioning and monitor them at all times.

It has been my experience that Shih Tzus become very lethargic when left with a full coat and will immediately perk up when the coat is clipped.

For non-show dogs... the puppy cut is a great alternative to the long flowing coat and the tail and top-knot can remain to give them the distinctive Shih Tzu look.
